September 13-15, 2017, Stockholm, Sweden
Three most important actors in the field of biobanking: BBMRI-ERIC (Biobanking and BioMolecular resources Research Infrastructure – European Research Infrastructure Consortium), ESBB (European, Middle Eastern and African Society for Biopreservation and Biobanking), and ISBER (International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories), organised the international congress for wide range of participants: biobankers, renowned experts, policy makers, patient advocacy groups, and others, and exhibitors, all together 850 participants.
The congress provided a global platform for comprehensive discussion and collaboration on biobanking. The goal of the meeting was to assist biobankers to improve health care. Participating at the congress provided unique opportunity to meet right people in biobanking in one place to inform yourself about the latest tools, services, and challenges. Session topics included personalised medicine, quality of samples, harmonisation efforts, data protection, and the benefit for citizen and society.
Biobank in University Hospital was presented by poster on ELSI (Ethical, legal, and social issues), and the whole Czech National Node with four posters in the same field.
An important and inspirative part of the congress was a visit in Karolinska Institutet Biobank.
